F.lli Budai Srl is the Lead Partner of the QUICKSHIPFIT project (Quick Installation of Furnishings and Decorations in the Naval Sector), which, as a research and development project in the Maritime Technologies sector, is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Regional Operational Program. The project activities fall within one of the priorities of the Regional Operational Program, Objective “Investments in favor of growth and employment” 2014-2020, namely Axis 1 – “Strengthening research, technological development, and innovation”, Action 1.3 – “Support for collaborative R&D activities for the development of new sustainable technologies, products, and services”.
The “QUICKSHIPFIT” project, launched on June 1st, 2020, will develop an innovative method for rapid installation of naval furnishings and decorations, both interior and exterior, which involves the use of a double-sided adhesive capable of having a lesser impact in terms of vibrations and noise and speeding up the installation process. The use of the double-sided adhesive, compliant with the stringent regulations of the naval sector, will allow for the preparation of the furnishings in the factory by exploiting the characteristics of the adhesive developed for the naval environment.

F.lli Budai Srl is a Partner of the ISOLCOL project (Glued Insulations for the Naval Industry), which, as a research and development project in the Maritime Technologies sector, is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The ISOLCOL project, launched on March 1st, 2017, aims to reduce the noise and vibrations generated by pedestrian traffic on the open decks of the ship (e.g., pool area), in the cabins immediately below these areas. Currently, wood is glued to the decks with a layer of viscoelastic material interposed between the deck and the floor to dampen noise and vibrations. However, this poses a series of problems regarding the increase in combustible material on the ship, weight, costs, and installation time and fixation. The objective of the project is to eliminate the viscoelastic material by formulating and spraying a nano-adhesive (including thermo-vibro-acoustic nano-insulators) between the deck and the wooden flooring (on the upper part of the deck) and the insulation panels (on the lower part of the deck). The project will lead to an improvement in thermal and vibro-acoustic insulation of the cabin, a reduction in the thickness and weight of the traditionally used insulation, the elimination of thermal and vibro-acoustic bridges, constituted by the end part of the harpoons normally not covered by the insulations, and a reduction in installation time and costs.
